My Public Appeal to Deepak Chopra

In light of the recent revelations.

My Public Appeal to Deepak Chopra

Dear Deepak, my phone, like many others, is blowing up with questions about you, your involvement in the Epstein files, and what I think about it. But rather than speak about you and publicly denounce you the way everyone else is doing, I’d like to speak directly to you.

You have been a supporter, a colleague. You supported my book. You supported our nonprofit, Consciousness and Healing Initiative. You supported the work of healing. You nominated me to Evolutionary Leaders, which you helped co-found. And that is why I personally am so deeply disappointed to hear the news of your involvement with Epstein and the bro culture talk.

That you engaged with him. You clearly knew he was a predator of some sort. How deep? I don’t know. But it was clear. It’s clear in your interactions with him, and it’s clear in what others have said. So while I have not had the experience of you being predatory with me, the shadow is out there, right? There is a fall from grace. And my question to you is, what are you going to do about that? Because I have witnessed you in leadership.

And clearly others have witnessed you in a very, very different way. Your shadow is public. It’s out there for everyone to see. This is a fall from grace. And the beauty of falls from grace is that they allow us to really deepen our humility, our authenticity, ask for reparation and reconciliation, and allow everyone to see us as the human beings that we are.

Now we know part of the issue with society is that we deify teachers, and we shouldn’t. Because everyone is human. I’ve learned that. I learned that a long time ago. Unfortunately, many don’t. And while you may feel scapegoated, really what this is is an opportunity for you to come into your leadership. It is an opportunity. And I would like to invite you, whether with me or someone else, to really engage in restorative dialogue and come clean. Help us understand why you made the choices you made, what you would do differently.

It’s necessary, Deepak, at this point. Just a quick PR statement isn’t going to work now. We need you to do this. We need you to come clean. Step into your leadership. Help us understand why you decided to associate with Epstein. Why others? Was it the money? Were you afraid? What was it? Is it just that you think this is the way the world works? That this is the toxic masculine leadership model we should all follow? I suspect there is a part of you that doesn’t believe that.

And I hope that you’ll take the opportunity to really be authentic, ask for forgiveness, and help us all move forward.

Thank you.
